Translation is an exercise in abstraction. This series of wind drawings attempts to capture the multi-layered nature of wind patterns across the Owens Valley landscape using mylar paper and audio-recordings of wind. I developed a series of marks to symbolize major and minor sounds. Both sides of the mylar are used to mimic the three-dimensional quality of sound. In future drawing exercises I’d like to try layering many thinner sheets to build up a McHarg-like image.
