Using grasshopper for the first time was an interesting journey in trying to figure out how to implement parametric design within the site we chose. Using parametric algorithms to create shapes and textures was a difficult process since nothing that we wanted to do on site was able to be successfully done with grasshopper. No matter how many hours we sunk into trying to play with lofts, patches, or multiplying certain shapes and creating new forms by manipulating coordinate data, nothing seemed to work. It became clear that the only part of our grasshopper script, after countless hours struggling, that was remotely going to work was the lofting and multiplication algorithm. Within our final design we have tillage and berms that were created using grasshopper with the rest of the surround area being created manually using rhino 3d.
