Studio Projects

Technologic failures are preventing the distribution of the final round of instructions to the LA303L studio, so it gives me an excuse to provide a blog post. Might as well share instructions for all the projects while I’m at this, and post a few pics of student’s projects.

From modeling clay and video montaging, we shifted to using parametric design tools (mostly Grasshopper3D and Rhino) to produce the final projects.  Working at the micro and macro scales, students have been developing scripts to describe choreography the earthmoving process to generate multi-functional dust control terrains on Owens Lake.

The main concept behind this video is translating Blake Balenger and Ellen Uton’s recent article ‘Situating Eidetic Photomontage In Contemporary Landscape Architecture’ in Landscape Journal to the realm of time-based media.
