During some downtime on the Owens Valley field trip, a group of grad students went to the Alabama Hills to explore the boulders. I was shocked and excited to find out that just off the 395 out of Independence there were amazing boulder piles resembling Joshua Tree. Climbing out and onto the rocks gave amazing views of the Owens Valley to the East and the Sierra Nevada to the west. Another time I felt grateful for the beautiful places that landscape architecture brings me to explore.
