Investigating Cougar Corridors

During my visit to the Owens Valley last week I made special note of features of the landscape that can act as barriers to mountain lions passing between the Sierra Nevada and Inyo/White mountain ranges. Talking with Julie of De La Cour Ranch and with the Inyo County Water, I was able to better understand the presence of cougars in the valley and was made aware of organizations that are tracking their behavior. By better understanding landscape conditions, land use, grazing rights, and physical barriers, I hope to identify the best routes for cougar crossings and come up with design solutions that better accommodate their passage.
